Job Title: Deputy Head

Location: Bexhill, East Sussex

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Head to join our school, overseeing two locations in Bexhill. Our school is committed to providing individualized and personalized education to students who have found conventional learning challenging. As a Deputy Head, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Headteacher and leading our school to continued success. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the operations and management of two school locations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and the provision of a supportive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in the strategic direction and development of the school
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of two school locations
  • Provide guidance and support to staff, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive school improvement initiatives
  • Ensure the implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders
  • Promote and maintain high standards of behavior, safeguarding, and well-being for all students

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant teaching experience
  • Experience in a leadership or management role within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of SEN and experience working with autistic children
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, driving high standards and continuous improvement
  • Commitment to the well-being and personal development of students

This Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. They are three special schools, a large countywide alternative provision and a vocational free school. They strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement. Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

This Central has two sites across East Sussex, Eastbourne and Hastings, and provides specialised education to young people with who have been, or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream school, with average class sizes of 8-10. They strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement. Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

We are supporting this college to recruit an experienced practitioner of general subjects, preferably with a focus in core subjects of English and/or Maths, starting as soon as possible. The school applications from all specialisms, with the ability to adapt to teach a range of other subjects in a specialised setting. This position is primarily based at the Hastings site, but the successful candidate may be expected to work at their Eastbourne site, as and when required.
