Alexandra Park
Alexandra park is situated in the middle of Hastings and stretches for 2.5 miles, offering an incredibly diverse landscape, including ancient woodland and formal flower beds. The Heritage Lottery Fund helped with the £3.4 million restoration of the park, completed in 2004. Alexandra Park was originally laid out by Robert Marnock, a famous Victorian Landscape architect in 1878 and many plants and layouts have been chosen to recreate the Victorian Pleasure Park.
The lower park includes a boating lake, bowls green, cafe, adventure playground, bandstand, war memorial and information point. The upper park includes tennis courts, multi play area, formal flower and rose gardens, reservoirs for fishing, natural woodland and a miniature railway. The top areas of Coronation Wood and Old Roar Gill are a local nature reserve.
Various events take place in Alexandra Park during the summer months including Hastings Beer Festival, various Band Concerts, Play in the Park and interpretive walks and activities.

Located to the east of the town with over 267 hectared of ancient woodland, heathland and grassland lying within 3 miles (5km) of dramatic cliffs and coastline. The Filsham Reedbed is one of the largest in Sussex and is situated within the Combe Haven Valley local nature reserve. Freshwater pools and ditches, reedbed, fen, grazing marsh, willow scrub and woodland provide a perfect habitat for many breeding birds and insects. A huge variety of wetland plants can be found in the drainage ditches and pools within the valley.
Main access to Combe Valley and the reedbed is either via Bulverhythe recreation ground off Bexhill Road or by the reservoir on Queensway at the other end of the valley. |

Church Wood & Robsack Wood

This area consists of ancient coppiced woodland with freshwater streams and a small meadow in the heart of Hollington. in St Leonards. There are public footpaths throughout with the main entrance being the track off Churchwood Drive that leads to St Leonards Church (Church in the Wood). Alternatively opposite the junction to Mayfield Drive.
The woodland is very rich in wildlife with many rare and endangered species thriving in the conditions created by the coppice management.
