I am loking forward to buying a lovely flat in st.leonards overlooking the sea.
Its extremly beautiful and am hoping to visit there many times.

I understand that the area will have a facelift soon, hopefully it will just improve it and not spoil the natural beauty.

Just discovered this site, and thought it would be nice for someone that actually lives in hastings to add there comment.

I am a youth of hastibgs and most of my friends say this is a dump, but i must say there is no other town in england that i would like to live in, and there is so much to do and explore.

Must say that if you like hastings then you must come back to visit again and again i mean i live here and i still haven't seen it all.

First visit for 42yrs lots of changes a few more seats needed towards the pier and deckchairs up that end and small cafe would be nice, and boat trips would be good.

But we had a great visit lovely weather, daily up in the small lift to the cliffs lovely being up there for the view.

Good meals in the cafes.

Lovely hotel the Chatsworth well worth a visit for the attention you receive and lovely room.

Just came home from a wonderful trip in Britain. We spent 2 days around Battle, Hastings and St Leonards On Sea. There is so much to do and see, despite the terrible rain! A very special thanks to the staff at High Beech Hotel in St Leonards On Sea. You made our trip twice as enjoyable!

I found I miss Hastings more and more as I get older.

I have been writing a book of my youth and long for those days of yesteryear. I have lived up here in Cheshire for almost 20 years and will never get back due to ill health.

Never mind, this guestbook is absolutely fandabydozy and it's nice to read other peoples comments.

After the war we moved from London to Hastings. My parents lived on the Sedelscome Rd. they had a restaurant called 'The Spiders Web' this would be around 1946 to 1955 when we sailed to N.Z

My brother and I attended Silver Hill School and then I went to St. Leonards Secondry Modern School forn girls. Loved going to dancing classes at Ivy Stevens dance school also skating in the Old Town.

My Parents would take us once a month to the Court Players on the end of the Pier. Our little village was called the Harrow and was on the Ridge. My name was Linda Brider. Bye for now.

My family and I have just returned from Hastings, having stayed in a lovely hotel, White Rock Hotel next to the theatre. What a lovely setting - sea views, peace and quiet and delicious, well presented meals on the terrace of the hotel. I would recommend this family style hotel for it's wonderful cafe bar and friendly happy service.

Plenty to do in Hastings and surrounding area to keep a family busy for a week or two. My favourite on this occasion was a walk from Winchelsea back to Hastings. It's 10 miles long so if you want a shorter option go for the Hastings Country Park.

The man I love grew up in Hastings, he moved to Spain about 3 years ago. We usually fly to England to visit his family 2/3 times a year, some of them live in Hastings. I simply love it. The sea front and the views from up hill in the old town are impresive. Outstanding !
Besides, he's got a lovely family, so loving and affectionate to me :-)
I look forward to going soon.

Great website, very useful

I don't remember where but I found a postcard of George Street, Hastings couple months ago and I was so impressed. It's a picture taken in a rainy night. This picture is taking me inside and makes me want to visit Hastings. I am studying in New York right now and any time I fly to Istanbul, I try to see Hastings:) The postcard is attached on my wall..

Kudos to this Website. I have considered Hastings as my home for the last 8 years now, and people from my home country would often ask me what Hastings has to offer; and in the past, I'd end up describing places we've been to, and the great experiences we've had since we moved here to work locally.

Thank GOD for this website because now, all I have to do when fellow Filipino friends and relatives ask me things about HASTINGS is to refer them to your website. It's informative, easy to navigate, and filled with fascinating stories and eye - captivating photos.

Congratulations!

I have not yet visited the UK but, hope to come very soon and Hastings is my first destination. The love of my life lives there and I will be coming to be with him. I must say that of all the websites out there, yours is the most enjoyable, asy to use and navigate through and by far the most comprehensive of its kind. I am very impressed with it and get a real sense of both the history of Hastings and all it has to offer both residents and visitors alike. I've heard many conflicitng things about Hastings but, even though I'm not a seasoned UK resident yet, I find I am much more prone to believe the good that I've heard. I am looking very forward to coming to Hastings and finding my home with the man I love, friends and happiness. Have a wonderful season and much good fortune in the years ahead.

I found this website very interesting and informative. I wanted to find out as much as I can about the area to see if it would suit me to live there, and must say that I am totally confused by the mixed messages. It looks to me as if there is much of interest there, and I love the sea, but comments on the forum were very scathing, regarding the neglect of the area, and the quality of life. On the other hand many visitors have stated they love the place. There is only one thing for it, I must come down and see for myself.
