Was born in Hastings 58 years ago - I visit as much as I can - unfortunately the town has deteriorated since the old days - last time I visited I wouldn't have been surprised if someone had told me a bomb had been dropped. Still its my old home and I treasure the memories of yesteryear.

Moved down to Westfield, from London in 1953, 9 years old. Finishing school at Battle, worked at a jig-saw factory, (which burnt down) just outside of Silverhill, moving on to Flays in Queens Road, assume it's gone now. Left Sussex in Sept. 1960 and a life in the RAF. Great place Hastings, remember the new groups performing on the pier, The Hollies, Freddy and the Dreamers and many more. Admission 2s 6p. Most of us had motorbikes, had a regular route along the seafront and up George Street, waking the dead. Moved to Norway in 1974, last time I was in England was 1989, enjoyed all the pictures which bring back many memories. Great site.

I used the site to find a B&B in hastings. This was very easy but I am surprised that there is no search feature on the site.

Are trying to find information on a Brian Fredrick Perry, born in 1934 and last heard of at 10 Coburg Place, Hastings, in the 1960s. He was evacuated to Hertfordshire during the war where he attended our wedding. Would like to know anything about him as our Diamond Wedding Anniversary approaches - next January.

I attended a school at St Leonards, it was run by Nuns, so it must have been a catholic school. The date as near as I can remember would be 1938. I was born in Yorkshire 1931. I know their are many schools at St Leonards and I was just hoping some one would be able to give me some information.
My husband and I visited England and also Hastings trying to locate the school, but it has been a long time ago and I could not remember exactly where it was. Thank you.

Hello, I was in Hastings in the summer 1976 and I loved it so much that I got back in 1977 with some friends for one month. I remember the beauty of finding among young people from every part of Europe at the Memorial. I was living in St Leonards (13 Conqueror Road) and I really would like to know if that family still live there , just to say hello and thanks for their ospitality.
Thanks to anyone who can help in finding their name.

My grandfather was born (I think) in the St. Leonards area about l868 and I have decided to try to develop some history. Most everyone in the family is now gone so I am working on very litle information. He passed in l940 and my grandmother passed in l925. I am 80 yrs old so it's rather late to attemp to find records. Enjoyed your web site very much. William Wells the third.

Thank you for the wonderful website. It is a great way for those of who are descended from the people of Hastings to share information about the land of our heritage with our families.

I will be visiting Hastings the week of July 28th and would be glad to meet other descendants of the Breeds, Adams and Philcox families. My great-great grandparents were Mark Breeds and Rachel Adams, great-grandparents were James Breeds and Frances Louisa Philcox, and grandparents were James Mark Breeds (of Rye) and Elizabeth Keane. My family would welcome e-mail from anyone with information about these families.

I attended Hollington Park School in the 50s. I remember walking through Alexandra Park in crocodile fashion. It was a very spacious park and I believe it was refurbished recently, hope so. The school attended services at the Church-in-the-Wood. It was all so quaint. I took it all for granted but now want to go back an explore. I wonder if the lonely museum is still there at the top of the hill. It seemed a gaunt place in those days.
The photos are excellent.
